GBT 8834-2006 Rope Determination of physical and mechanical properties

Pageviews 740

1.1 This standard specifies the measurement methods for the following rope characteristics:

    1) Linear density;

    2) Twist distance;

    3) Elongation:

    4) Breaking strength.

1.2 The first two characteristics (linear density and lay length) are the characteristics of the rope measured under a specific tension, which is called pre-tension.

    Note: According to this standard, the net length of the rope with linear density (under pretension) can be calculated by dividing the total net escaping of the rope (not including strapping or packaging materials) by the linear density. The quality value of this net item should be adjusted and measured under the same humidity conditions.

1.3 The third characteristic (extension) is the length increase when the tension on the rope increases from the initial value (pre-tension) to 75% of the rated minimum breaking strength of the rope.

1.4 The fourth characteristic (breaking strength) is the maximum load recorded (achieved) during the breaking test of the sample on a strength testing machine with moving parts moving at a constant speed. Only when the above-mentioned type of testing machine is used. The breaking strength value listed in the rope specification table is valid. When the entire section of the rope cannot be tested, with the consent of the parties concerned, the method described in Appendix B can be used for testing.
